Have you ever had one of those moments where several good things happen in a row and instead of celebrating, your first thought is:
“Okay… what’s the catch?”
I had one of those moments today.
My book is finally live.
Someone messaged me to tell me they started reading it and couldn’t put it down.
I applied for a position in a classroom I love.
I slept all night for the first time in what feels like forever.
And for a brief moment, I caught myself thinking that everything was lining up almost too perfectly.
Then I stopped and thought about it.
Maybe it isn’t perfect.
Maybe it’s momentum.
Maybe what looks like things suddenly falling into place is actually the result of hundreds of small steps that happened long before anyone noticed.
The book didn’t write itself.
The healing didn’t happen overnight.
The relationships weren’t built in a day.
The opportunities didn’t appear out of thin air.
They were all seeds planted at different times, quietly growing beneath the surface.
Maybe that’s why it feels strange when several of them bloom at once.
We become so accustomed to waiting, struggling, hoping, and working that when something good finally happens, we immediately start looking for the catch.
Sometimes there isn’t one.
Sometimes a good day is just a good day.
Sometimes the thing you’ve been working toward finally happens.
Sometimes a door opens.
Sometimes someone says, “I relate to that,” and reminds you why you started writing in the first place.
And sometimes, after a very long season, life simply gives you a reason to smile.
I’m still learning to accept that.
I’m still learning that every good thing doesn’t have to be followed by something bad.
Maybe some seasons are for surviving.
Maybe some seasons are for growing.
And maybe, just maybe, some seasons are for enjoying the harvest.
